Perth Trots are held at Gloucester Park every Friday night with the occasional midweek race meeting. Gloucester Park is the home of Perth Trots and plays host to the biggest races on the Western Australia Harness Pacing and Trotting Calendar.
Because of Perth being located so far away from the Eastern States of Australia, Perth Harness Racing has had to stand on it’s own two feet at Gloucester Park. The home of the very first Inter Dominion Championship held at Gloucester Park in 1936.
The Gloucester Park track has witnessed some of the best harness racing pacers Australasia has had to offer with Satinover, San Simeon, Popular Alm, Gammalite, Preux Chevalier, Franco Tiger, Our Maestro, Luxury Liner, Black Irish, Wondais Mate, Koala King, Jack Morris, Our Sir Vancelot, Westburn Grant and Sunshine all making their mark.
Many of the local champions have made successful eastern state raids from the West. Champion pacers Mount Eden, Pure Steel and Village Kid are the best the west has offered with Village Kid the going on to set an Australian Record $2,117,870 in prizemoney won before retire as the World’s Richest Pacing Gelding.
