Monday Night Football – Raiders v Bunnies

May 19, 2008

Monday Night NRL Football this week pits the Canberra Raiders up against South Sydeny Rabbitoh’s.  Lambs to the slaughter with the Raiders expected to easily cover the 4.5 point start with home ground advantage. The Bunnies are woeful and despite nothching their first win of the season recently, I can’t see them getting within 10 points of the Green Machine here.

Another case of the more you put on the more you will get back.

Big Brown Winning the Preakness Stakes

May 19, 2008

Big Brown demolished his rivals in the Kentucky Derby and he was at it again in the Preakness Stakes leaving his rivals in his wake. You can watch this You Tube video of Big Brown winning the Preakness Stakes. Will he be too brilliant to win the third leg of the Triple Crown or is he that much better than the rest of them that the extra distance won’t matter?

HKJC cancels Wednesday race meeting to mourn earthquake victims

May 19, 2008

The Hong Kong Jockey Club has announced that the Happy Valley race meeting scheduled for Wednesday has been cancelled.

HKJC Chief Executive Officer Winfried Engelbrecht-Bresges said in a statement, “The scale of this human tragedy is simply heartbreaking,”

“In light of the sentiment of the whole nation, the Club, as the biggest public entertainment provider in Hong Kong, feels it inappropriate to go ahead with the race meeting as scheduled. We understand that this will cause some inconvenience especially to some stakeholders in our racing industry, but I hope they will share their understanding with our decision and to join us to show sympathy to all the earthquake victims.”

Weekend Sports betting Wrap

May 19, 2008

It was a big weekend of sport betting around the globe with plenty of winners and losers. Portsmouth took out the FA Cup Final with a 1-0 win over Cardiff courtesy of a goal by NIgerian striker Kanu. This was hard work watching your money grow with Portsmouth playing like the underdogs rather than the well fancied favourites.

Kobe and the LA Lakers have tumbled in to outright favourites to win another NBA Championship after eliminating the Jazz with a rare win on the road.

The Boston Celtics finally put away the Cleveland Cavaliers with Paul Pierce and LeBron James having a “shootout” at the Gardens in Game 7 with the Celtics prevailing 97-92.

The New York Yankees are still struggling losing both games to their crosstown rivals the New York Mets, who spanked them 11-2 and took home a rain-shortened 2-0 series win.

Kasey Kahne scooped a $1 million payday when he took out the AllStar race at Lowe’s Motor Speedway on Sunday night.
