Now that was funny, I only just finished putting up the odds for the next NBA coach to be fired and thought how juicy are those 3/1 odds on Avery Johnson and he’s been sacked already. Before i even put up my post lol.
It was an accident waiting to happens wasn’t it?
Johnson said of his dismissal from the Mavs, “There’s no animosity or bitterness. We all still really care about each other, but it was time to go in a different direction. … We didn’t win the championship, but if you look at the whole body of work that we put together over the last 3 1/2 years … we’ll put it up against anybody.”

The NBA playoffs haven’t even progressed past the first round already two coaches have been fired, and one has stepped down. Inevitably Isaiah Thomas was fired, followed by Sam Vincent, and most recently Pat Riley has left his post as Miami’s head coach.
With furor over playoff and regular season mistakes reaching an all-time high in places like Phoenix and Dallas and elsewhere, fans are wondering who’s (and in some cases calling for) head will roll next. This being the case, the largest most successful sportsbook on the web, BetUS.com posted odds on the next NBA heads coach to be fired.
Oddsmakers at BetUS.com posted the following odds on NBA head coaches:

Jim O’Brien (Indiana) 15/1
Avery Johnson (Dallas) 3/1

The San Antonio Spurs booked safe passage into the second round of the NBA Playoffs courtesy of the Hack A Shaq tactics. While the big fella came good from the foul line down the stretch, the damage was done early shooting just 5 of 14 from the charity strike.
For some, it’s just part of the game. In part there is a semblance of truth to this statement. However, fouling tactics when the game is in the balance at the end of the game to give yourself a chance to pull the other team back by making shots is one thing, fouling players in the first half…that just doesn’t sit easy with me.
I’ll say what the “professional sports writers” don’t have the intestinal fortitude to say. Greg Popovich and the Spurs did cheat and they have never been worthy champions because they do not and have not under his reign, played in the spirit of the game.
I’d bet as much as anyone is willing to lose that the spirit of the rule pertaining to a team getting two free throws was not implemented so that teams can just foul players midcourt in the first half.
There is a fine line between playing to win at all costs and cheating. My interpretation is that the Spurs DID indeed cheat. They will argue that technically, they did not. We can argue about who came first the chicken or the egg all day long, the fact remains I or anyone else, can mount a compelling arguement to say that they did indeed cheat is ample proof enough that any championship you win is tainted.
The sad part is, the Spurs can win by just playing basketball and yet they chose not to do so. I for one won’t be disappointed when the Lakers beat them, should they get passed the Hornets.
I do have a small investment on the Lakers after they signed Pau Gasol, couldn’t believe the 16/1 odds on offer that was still available after the trade was announced, i couldn’t put my bet on quick enough.

Three time MVP winner Alex Rodriguez has been placed on the 15 day Disabled List by the New York Yankees after the third baseman suffered a strained quadracip.
Rodriguez hurt his last week in Baltimore and missed three games before returning to the lineup for a four-game series at Cleveland.
The Yankees are certainly going to struggle in the short term as they have to take the field without both A-Rod and Jorge Posada who is already on the DL.
