Pat Riley steps aside as Heat Coach

Pat Riley has stepped down and officially retired as Miami Heat coach on the back of their 15-67 season. Riley said at a press conference that he would be  returning to his role as a full time team president of the Heat organization. Riley leaves the game with 5 championship rings and a coaching record that reads 1210-694.

For those who are a little younger and don’t know what RIley has accomplished along the way. 16 championships in his first 18 seasons as a coach. He has coached three different teams, the LA Lakers, the New York Knicks and the Miami Heat.  His playoff record is second to none at 171-111.

Riley announced that long time assistant coach Erik Spoelstra will take over the reigns at the Heat.
